Syria
Syria (officially the Syrian Arab Republic) is a state in the Middle East. Syria borders Israel and Jordan to the south, Lebanon and the Mediterranean Sea to the west, Turkey to the north, and Iraq to the east.
Aramaic Relief International is a non-profit relief organisation based in Baar, Switzerland, which provides humanitarian aid in the spirit of active charity for people in need, refugees, war victims, and children in need. The focus is on development and emergency aid for persecuted and expelled minorities, and for war victims left behind in Syria, Iraq, South Sudan, Lebanon, Jordan, and Uganda.
The organisation goes where the need is greatest following war, reaching displaced families who often cannot be reached effectively by international assistance. Aid includes food parcels, medical care, and emergency surgery, housing/shelter support, clothing distributions, as well as psychological support and educational projects for children and adults.
Emergency aid for earthquake victims in Syria
Thousands of people have already died, and tens of thousands are injured in several severe earthquakes that hit the border region between Syria and Turkey on 6th February 2023. The scale of the disaster is devastating!
After twelve years of war and destruction, it is once again hitting the most vulnerable people in Syria. In the war-torn country, thousands of people are waiting for rescue and emergency aid to cover their most basic needs. The devastating earthquakes mainly hit people who were already living in great need. They spend the nights in churches, public buildings, halls, and even caves, and are exposed to the freezing cold. It is a race against time.
The local teams of Aramaic Relief International and their partners are already working in northern Syria. They are distributing food, water, blankets, and other urgently needed relief items. They are working at full speed to assess the impact on people in different regions of Syria and to meet the most urgent needs.
To conduct these tasks, they urgently need donations.
